Mediterranean Rituals: An Invitation to Slow Down, Get Your Hands Dirty and Fall in Love With Nature (Again)

There’s something quietly magical about waking up to the scent of lemon blossoms and rosemary, birdsong in the air, and sunlight spilling over terracotta rooftops. At Villa Edera & La Torretta, nestled between the rugged coastlines of Portofino and the Cinque Terre, this magic is everyday life.

But we didn’t want it to stop at the room experience or the scent of our herb garden wafting through the window.

We wanted to share it with you — tangibly, soulfully.

That’s why we created “Mediterranean Rituals”, a collection of complimentary, rural experiences for our guests that invite you to slow down, connect with nature and discover the quiet joy of the land — one grape, one olive, one basil leaf at a time.

It All Starts in the Garden

Every morning, our gardener takes a gentle stroll through the property. He checks the sage, picks a few sprigs of lavender and listens — really listens — to what the plants are telling him.

And now, you’re invited to walk beside him.

Together, you’ll harvest fresh herbs and edible flowers for our restaurant, "Orto Ritrovato", or gather botanicals that will end up in a cocktail you’ll sip by the pool later that evening. There’s no rush. No obligation. Just the meditative act of tending to something living, aromatic and beautiful.

It’s less like “gardening” and more like therapy... but with thyme and lemon balm.

In the Vineyard, Every Season Has Its Story

Few places let you experience a vineyard in every stage of its life. But here, the rhythm of the year is part of the experience.

In early spring, you can join us for the vine pruning — the quiet, almost sacred ritual of preparing the vines for the season ahead. Later, as the vines leaf out, help us with leaf thinning, a subtle but essential step that ensures the grapes get just the right balance of sun and breeze.

And then… comes September.

Our grape harvest, or vendemmia, is an emotional moment. The fruit of the year’s work is ready. And we pick it together — by hand, side by side. You’ll learn what to look for in a ripe cluster, hear the crunch of leaves underfoot and feel the sun on your back. At the end of the day, you’ll raise a glass of our natural wine, “La Vigna Ritrovata”, right where it was born.

It’s not a wine tasting.
It’s a memory in the making.

The Olive Harvest (And That First Taste of New Oil)

Come October, the olive trees begin to whisper that they’re ready. And just like with the vines, we invite you to be part of the process.

With a basket in hand and the Ligurian sun still warm, you’ll join us in the olive harvest — a peaceful, grounding ritual that connects you to the land in the most timeless of ways. Afterwards, you’ll be among the first to taste our newly pressed extra virgin olive oil, still green and peppery, drizzled over sourdough bread with just a pinch of sea salt.

It’s humble. And it’s unforgettable.

For Adults Only. And For a Reason.

These rituals are open to all our guests — free of charge and entirely optional — but they’re offered exclusively at our adults-only retreat for a reason.

They’re quiet. Unrushed. Meant to be savored.

Whether you’re here with your partner or traveling solo to reconnect with yourself, this is a space that holds you gently.

Without the noise. Without the crowds. Just nature, beauty, and a sense that you belong here.

So, What’s the Real Luxury?

It’s not just about spas or suites (although, yes, we do have all two).

It’s about being invited in. Into the land, into the story, into the season.

It’s luxury you can taste on your fingertips, smell on your skin and carry home in your soul.

We call it the Mediterranean Rituals.

You might just call it the reason you came here in the first place!
