A train ’or boat trip to the villages which make up the Cinque Terre, Unesco Heritage since 1997, is also a must: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, can be reached in about 30 minutes from the ’hotel. These romantic villages, built as though they had taken root on the rockside dropping straight into the sea are protected by pretty inlets and surrounded by rugged rocks and cultivated vineyards and olive groves. They are a singular attraction of nature and coveted destination for lovers of scuba diving and ’excursions.
